21st Delivery

Community Supported Agriculture -

Our 21st delivery contained eggs, broccoli, green onions, lettuce, parsley, kohlrabi, butternut squash, and lots of green tomatoes - the last of the tomatoes from our farmers' hoop houses all picked to beat the first frost.

Here is a picture of their hoop houses from our tour of Fruitful Hills this Spring:

We happened to purchase a butternut squash at the store a few days before this delivery. We decided to bake the store bought squash and the organic - straight from our farmers squash at the same time. Although the store squash was larger is size, the organic squash from our farmers as the winner by a long shot! It was dense and rich in color and flavor. The store squash was flavorless by comparison, and really pale colored flesh. Ugh! I wish I had taken pictures...
