Community Supported Agriculture - Our 12th delivery marked the half-way point in our CSA. The newsletter from our farmers was full of great information again this week. It was most endearing to read about the "Scallion Parties" that the family holds. The whole family pitches in cleaning, trimming roots, bunching, banding, and cutting off the tops of the scallions. As you can imagine, this is not the best job, and you smell like onions by the end. To help morale about the "Scallion Parties" the family has decided to let one person read aloud while everyone else works. What a wonderful idea! Just imagine a family gathered on a back porch, idyllic rolling hills, evening time with the sound of cicadas as background noise to the tales of 1800's pioneering stories, and no hands are idle and all imaginations are engaged. Lovely.
